We are pleased to be carrying All American Pressure Canners at Fillmore Container. The manufacturer, located in the USA, has been producing these pressure canners since the 1930’s and has established a strong reputation for quality.
Why a Pressure Canner?
The USDA and NCHFP recommend pressure canning as the reliably safe way to can low-acid foods like meats and vegetables. These pressure canners can also be used for preparing large quantities of food by pressure cooking it in a short amount of time. You can see our posts on pressure canning and pressure canning recipes and see which jars are safe for pressure canning. All of our 2-piece lids, including the bulk and the Superb canning lids are approved for pressure canning. Although manufacturer instructions come with the packaging, you can also download here or access it from our product page under the “Attachments” tab.
Why is the All American Pressure Canner the best?
The All American design utilizes a precision machined “metal-to-metal” sealing system that doesn’t require any gaskets.
Positive action clamping wing nuts locks easily align the cover to the base forming a steam tight seal. This allows for easier opening and closing of the system, and also provides a safety measure, as it permits venting under unusual pressure conditions.
Double thickness edges for additional protection on points of heaviest wear.
Sturdy Bakelite lid handle
Easily readable steam gauge for accurate monitoring of pressure
Pressure regulator weight (5, 10 and 15 pound) for accurate controlling of pressure
Smooth, easy-to-clean finish
Which Pressure Canner model is right for you?
The answer to this question depends on the following consideration:
How much do you plan to can?See below for how many jars each pressure canner can accommodate.
What size of jars do you plan to use?See below for how many jars of different sizes each pressure canner can accommodate.
What type of stove will you use? Make sure that your stove top can handle the girth and the weight of a pressure canner filled with your jars full of food. Some glass top stoves in particular, can not accommodate the size/weight.
How much overhead work space do you have? If there is a hood over your stove top, make sure that you have enough clearance to safely remove the lid and safely get your jars in and out of the pressure canner without issues.
How much can you lift, and how’s your reach? Are there any strength or range of motion limits that would be a safety challenge for you? Consider the weight involved and the height of the pressure canner, and don’t forget that you’ll need to reach over and into the taller models.
