Cherry season is about to begin in our neck of the woods. Pick-your-own cherry season starts on Friday, at one of our local fruit farms.
Picking cherries is loads of fun, but pitting them…well it’s the pits…literally! In an effort to forever eliminate this grueling task from our cherry jamming efforts we found a better way. Our push button Cherry Pitter fits on regular mouth canning jars! All of the cherry pits go into the jar…no waste & no mess! Needless to say, we were in love at our first pitting.
We put together this quick video to show you how easy it is!

Oh how I wish I had this last year! My fingers were a beautiful shade of burgundy from pitting cherries for hours last season and I have a feeling that with a pitter we’d probably eat less!
Love one!

I’ve never canned anything with cherries, but would love to give it a try!
Wait, you can do more with cherries than just eat them by the pint? Only partially kidding. Once the cherries reach the house they vanish so fast I rarely get the chance to can or bake with them. With a pitter though, maybe I could get ahead of those hungry children. I’d love to try drying some.
I love cherries so much I have received jars as birthday gifts!
We love to freeze cherries to add to our oatmeal year round!
