Lovey, lovely project. Yes, indeed – great way to gift those folks we want to give a little something to, but can’t invest too terribly much in that gift, for whatever reasons. Wonderful.

Oops! Forgot that the question was about cookies!

My favorite Christmas cookie is one my sister in law makes using mixed candied fruit. The nasty stuff. But when made into these soft little cookies, it is delicious.

My family’s traditional Hanukah cookie is a lightly lemon sugar cookie cut into holiday themed shapes – candles, dreidles, hanukiyot, lions. The joke was always what would break off as we were cutting them out or while we were taking them off of the baking sheet — the lions’ tales, the base of the hanukiyot, the flames of the candles.

My favorite cookie was one that I use to make every year, The recipe came out of the old booklet that came with the Mirror Cookie Press, They were called Chocolate Pillows. You used a spritz dough and pressed it out in a bar shape. Then you put squares of chocolate down the bar leaving room to divide the cookies. Then you pressed another layer of bar on top. After that, you indented the size of your cookies, broke them apart, put on a tray and baked. They were pretty, good and had that little surprise that made them special, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a blessings for a wonderful New Year.

I have a hard time just naming one favorite! My sister-in-law has made earl grey shortbread cookies, which as a tea lover, are amazing. Her triple dot cookies which are a date cookie are delicious.
