Salted Paloma Bath Soak

This botanical bath soak is a wonderful way to wind down your day whether it was spent toiling in the garden or dealing with whatever stressors your day job brings. This Salted Paloma bath soak – which could also be called a Salty Dog – has a punch of citrus, with aromatic notes that give herbal gin vibes. These amazing aromatic herbs can also be helpful for your skin and may help reduce stress and inflammation.

Be creative with your packaging…perhaps repurposing a favorite gin bottle or a cocktail shaker. Just make sure its sealed tightly so it doesn’t cake.

This recipe will make about two pints of Salted Paloma Bath Soak – a pint for you and a pint for gifting. What you’ll need:

  • A large bowl & a spoon for stirring
  • Epsom Salt 4 cups
  • Himalayan Pink Salt 2 TBS
  • Rosemary EO 25-30 drops
  • Rosemary needles (optional if you don’t mind the texture or plan to use a pouch)
  • Juniper EO 30-40 drops
  • Juniper berries (optional if you don’t mind the texture or plan to use a pouch)
  • Grapefruit EO 50-60 drops
  • Lemon EO 6-10 drops
  • Cardamom EO 7-12 drops
  • Powdered Oats 2 TBS
  • Jars for packaging
  • Optional muslin pouch

Tips: You could also add dried lemon and/or grapefruit zest for a bit of color. If you do choose to use zest or other plant parts, you might want to go lighter on the EO’s. The muslin/linen pouch would be recommended if you would rather not deal with the plant particles in your bath, or going down the drain. If you’d rather not fuss with the pouch, just stick to the EO’s and perhaps use a rosemary twig to brighten up your packaging.

To make it: In the large bowl, mix the salts together, then add the EO’s followed by the plant bits and the oats.

To package it: Scoop the soak into your glass jars and tightly cap them. Air-tight is best.

To use it: Add 1/2 cup of the salted Paloma bath soak to your bath and gently stir it up. Or, into the pouch which can be tied and swirled in the bath or hung over the spigot as the bath fills.
