Ferment Your Vegetables, by Amanda Feifer of Phickle, is a must-have for the newbie or for the seasoned fermenter and will help to keep you in probiotic goodness all year around!
Pickle Pebbles & Pipes- Each of these are available in packs of 4 : Pickle Pebbles, Pickle Pipes and can be used in widemouth jars.
Widemouth Jars (for vegetables etc)- currently, the only home canning sized widemouth jars are Ball or Kerr branded. You can browse all of our widemouth jar here. The sizes range from 8oz to 1/2 gallon.
Lids – We recommend using bands/rings to keep your pickle pipes in place. Once your ferment is complete, you will need a lid for the jar. You certainly can use the canning lids that came with the jars, but the acidity of the contents may interact with the metal lid if it is in refrigeration for a long time. If you’re concerned, you can always use any of the plastic options available. The Ball Leak-Proof lids are quite sturdy. You can run them through the dishwasher as often as you need, and won’t have to worry about them rusting.
