We invite you to visit us at our Preservation Station on the Main Floor in the Family Living area of the Pennsylvania Farm Show at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, PA January 4-11, 2014.
We will showcase a variety of preservation demos during the event. Our friend, Marisa McClellan, author of Food in Jars, will be our guest at the event on January 6 & 7. Marisa will be doing several demos including pear vanilla jam and pickled cauliflower. She will also be available to sign her book and answer preservation questions.
We will be demoing other preserves throughout the week including, chutney, crockpot apple butter and jams, and we’ll have a few giveaways, so be sure to stop by.
This year we are also proud sponsors of the Jazzy Jar Contest. This is a great chance to get creative with jars! To participate decorate a quart jar with paint, decoupage, ribbons, or whatever inspires you. It can be decorated on the top, inside and/or on the outside. A ring and lid must be on the jar. If you’re decorative plans call for a smooth-sided jar, try this one. This contest is open to youth and adults. See full details about how to enter here. If you need some crafty inspiration, check out our Pinterest boards.
If you aren’t the crafty type consider participating in some of the Farm Show’s other contests. The Thumbprint Cookie Contest will have you putting forth your best baking and jamming efforts. Find details on how to enter here. Or showcase your preservation skills in the Canned Goods Contest. There’s a wide variety of opportunities to participate – find out more here.
Stay tuned for more details. We will post updates, as the Pennsylvania Farm Show gets closer. Hope to see you there!
