Lids

The type of closure you choose will mostly depend on how you will process your product. Higher volume operations will often choose a “lug” or “twist” closure. Lug closures can be more quickly applied to the container than continuous-thread (CT) closures (see our FAQ page for the difference) and typically cost less. CT closures, on the other hand, are more suitable to hand application as there is less chance of over- or under-tightening. We also stock the standard G70 lid for “retort”, which is specially designed for water bath canning. Stock color options are white and gold, but custom colors and designs can be ordered with certain minimum requirements. Many sizes are available with a button that pops up when the original seal is broken, which gives you peace of mind that all of your jars have sealed.
